Film is said to be "a term that encompasses individual motion pictures." To be completely honest, I got nothing out of the work by Mr. Snow and the other earlier works we saw. It took until when Ms. Marks came in yesterday to actually be enlivened by the work. The first piece "Vacuum, " drove me crazy, but in a good way. I didn't understand why the man would be vacuuming snow! It drove me so crazy that i couldn't stop watching it. I kept thinking, "how much snow is he going to vacuum?"
The other piece i found extremely interesting is "Les Egares." The thing i found so impressive was that they were standing on top of a temple, in a truly beautiful setting. You could hear the wind pick up. The one man was circling around a pole of some sort and to me it seemed as he was hypnotized. The film also showed a woman laying down on the top of the temple. Her hair was flailing in the wind it to me it seemed like she was either giving up, or being submissive for some reason. The last thing that struck me was the older man that was standing perfectly straight up like a soldier. I thought to myself, "Is he trying to defend the temple?"
Until Tuesday i was contemplating about not coming to class anymore because i just couldn't get myself motivated. Now i see things in a total different scope. Its kind of pathetic it took so long, but better late than never right???!?!?!?
